Analysis, design and development of an Information System based on the activities of diagnostic and restoration on Leonardo da Vinci’s Works.
The Leonardo’s Works Project is focused on the research, diagnostics and restoration of paper and graphic media, as well as the procedures for verifying the environmental parameters and assessing time and instrumental standards to perform an optimal programmed monitoring. At the same time a protocol will be established for the exhibition and promotion of Leonardo’s works of art and their scientific and material content.
All the scientific collected information will be used for the creation and development of a Centralized Information System, that will as well contain the bibliographic indications on each single work (through a link to the BNCR, Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale, Roma) and the guidelines for the handling and exhibition of the works of art.
The platform will be based on a Web-Oriented portal entirely based on Open-Source technology in order both to avoid the costs related to acquiring external software licenses and to render fully customizable the platform. The main phases envisaged for the realization of the Project are identified as follows: Interviews and analysis; Design of a database; Development and programming of procedures and interfaces; Installation and testing of the Information System; training course for the staff.
Below are reported the softwares that will be used:
– “Dash” Framework PHP in-house, open source (PHP >= 7.1)
– HTML5
– Javascript (JQuery, NodeJS + VueJS)
– CSS3 (Semantic-UI)
– Server Database Microsoft SQL Server Express or Database Open Source (MariaDB)
– Dynamic Cache System (Redis)
– Static Cache System (APC)
– Shell Scripting (Migration and iterations of queue processes)
– Use of purely Open Source softwares, without unmodifiable proprietary code.
The entire System will work through the use of “API” expressly enhanced in view of possible developments of new Android and iOS applications and to be completely adaptable to “mobile” supports, such as tablets and smartphones.
The research activities for a metagenomics study on Leonardo’s works are also planned and are part of the Project.
