Exhibition-event for the re-opening of the “Museo Ideale Leonardo Da Vinci” and the inauguration of the “Museo Leonardo e il Rinascimento del vino”.

On the occasion of the centenary of Leonardo’s death, the renovated “Museo Ideale Leonardo Da Vinci” with its new displays and the new “Museo Leonardo e il Rinascimento del vino”, in partnership with the Town Council of Vinci, are presenting an original exhibition on the vitality and relevance to modern times of Leonardo’s thinking and work – from art to the mass media – together with the most recent discoveries concerning his life and original studies on the relationship Leonardo had with the culture of the land.
This kaleidoscopic exhibition is organised in five parts:
“Leonardo Heritage” exhibits archival documents, artifacts and the new genealogical tree of Da Vinci from the 14th to the 21st centuries, from the ancestors to the living descendants from Leonardo’s father and his brother Domenico.
“Leonardo e il Rinascimento del vino” (Leonardo and the Renaissance of wine) examines in depth Leonardo’s relationships with the territory and with agriculture, two influences that were to play an important part in his life and multifarious studies ranging from nature to rural technology…
“La Gioconda è nuda” (The Mona Lisa is naked), with the painting placed in relation to the Chantilly Cartoon and unpublished scientific examinations, ancient engravings of the Mona Lisa and other paintings from Leonardo’s workshop.
“Leonardismi” through the centuries begins with the xylographies of the “Da Vinci knots” by Albrecht Dürer in the early sixteenth century, continuing with the image of Leonardo and the d’après, the theft of 1911 and the L.H.O.O.Q. version of the Mona Lisa by Duchamp, up to other protagonists of the international neo-avant-gardes…
“Attualità di Leonardo 2019” (Modernity of Leonardo 2019) consists of representative works by contemporary artists from various countries, from Italy to China
