The exhibition is conceived around a rigorous selection of original drawings by Leonardo da Vinci, the Leonardeschi, and other Renaissance artists, coming from important Italian and foreign institutions. The drawings reveal strict iconographic and stylistic relations with the
landscaping decoration of the Sala delle Asse in which, thanks to the presence of the Monochrome recently restored and of the samples of discovering made on the walls, significant traces of a preparatory design, laid out with dry or brush charcoal representing large landscape backgrounds emerged under the layers of plaster. All these clues are of extraordinary importance to deepen the knowledge of the original compositional project. The proposed path will give the scholars and the wider public the opportunity to verify and appreciate the fascinating artistic connections established by Leonardo with the figurative culture of other masters from Tuscany and Milan itself.
