Description of the project
The educational laboratory dedicated to Leonardo was one of the first interactive workshops open to the Museum.
In 2018 the i.lab Leonardo is the subject of important renewal in spaces and activities. The new area occupies 110 square meters and is divided into two sections: a workshop space dedicated to the machines and the construction site, and an atelier space to relive the work of the apprenticeship.
The new laboratory enhances an important educational resource for the Museum: the possibility of deepening Leonardo’s work both as an experimental artist and as an engineer in Renaissance construction sites; and, above all, to explore in first person his working method to stimulate new ways of thinking and doing.
The educational area presents an increasing number of routes and activities compared to the previous laboratory: construction techniques (machines, static and mechanical, gears and transformations of motions); artistic techniques (fresco and new wall painting techniques, color preparation and workshop recipes); the drawing (the instruments and the prospectographs). The activities are aimed at different audiences: students of all education levels, teachers, families, young people and adults.
